I went to the Dr. last week (May 8th, 2010) after what I found out about in my post about High Cholesterol and this one about Coq10 and High Cholesterol. He gave me a prescription for some Statin drug, and gave me instructions on how to take it. That night I took my coQ10 and my Statin drug and went to bed. I had a little trouble sleeping because of restless legs, so I thought that the next day I'd take the coq10 in the morning instead of directly with the statin.
Sunday went along without incident, but then late Sunday night/early Monday morning around 4am I woke up with my world spinning. Not I, just everything around me. I had Vertigo and immediately the nausea came. I tried to walk to the bathroom when I found that I couldn't balance myself, and then I got scared, and the ice cold shiver came over me.
I'm used to having minor things go wrong with me, but I do freak out and panic easy over things that I've not experienced before. Though I've been dizzy in my past, it's never been anything that lasted longer than a couple of seconds.
I decided it was from the Statin, because it was the only thing that had changed. I decided wrong, because after 6 days of feeling dizzy, and weak, I went back to the doctor and found that it's my blood pressure. I've been watching it as I've been doing to my doctor. He's not said anything, but I keep asking the assistant after she takes it so I can keep track of it. It has steadily gone up by 20 points each doctor visit. And this last one was dramatic. On the 8th my BP was 160/? and then yesterday May 15, it was 180/108.
I'm now on a diuretic, and something for my dizziness, and not taking the statins. I told my doctor that I wanted to get my blood pressure under control before the cholesterol. He agreed. Really I decided that I didn't want to take the statin at all, but thought this was a good way to put it off since I had basically just asked for it a week ago..lol.
Today, I feel a bit dizzy, and not as scared as I was because now I have an answer. But I've gone into a little shell for a bit just to let myself deal with what's going on and try to get my mind wrapped around it.

You're so lucky you have a good doctor. Some doctor will push you to take statin drugs even though we know that it has too many side effects. I hope everything is well now. take care always.
Thank you for the well wishes. And thank you for commenting :o) I'm keeping my fingers crossed!!! The dizziness is gone btw. :o)
